Dr. Roy Edwards
Dr. Roy Edwards has a passion for Christ, a Passion for youth and a passion
for people. He is prolific and profound in his preaching. Dr. Edwards accepted the
call to proclaim the Gospel in September of 1993, under the leadership of Pastor
Howard Caver, Pastor of the World Missionary Baptist Church. As he continued to
grow in the knowledge and the grace of God he became an ordained Minister in
February of 2000 and faithfully performed varies ministry duties assigned to him
including Assistant Pastor and also serving for a short time as interim Pastor at
Great Christian Faith Baptist Church.
In January of 2004, Dr. Edwards united with Great Commission Baptist
Church, and quickly began reaching toward the Church Goal: “Every Member
Maturing Spiritually from Membership to Ministry.” His involvements included
the Sunday school, Men’s, Drama, Vacation Bible School and Children’s Church.
Dr. Edwards became the Youth Minister of Great Commission Baptist Church in
January of 2006. In his tenor as Youth Minister God has used him to lead over
1100 children to Christ in Children’s Church.
As a Fort Worth native, he is a proud Dunbar High School Alumni. He’s
received an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor of Theology Degree,
a Master of Ministry Degree, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree with Pastoral
Leadership from Andersonville Theological Seminary.
Knowing that his success in life is nothing without others to share it with, he
is grateful to his family for their endless love and unwavering support. He is proud
to say that he is married to a wonderful wife of over 35 years, Janice Edwards his High
School sweetheart. God has blessed them with two lovely daughters, Brittany and Briel, and three beautiful grandchildren, Khloe, Leeland and Kamdyn. Wanting nothing more than to do God’s will at all cost, Dr. Edwards realizes the above-mentioned accolades and accomplishments cannot
supersede his number one priority: being a servant of the Lord.
